Alice Donut (NYC) formed in the punk underground of New York City's Lower East Side in 1987, originally signed to Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles, releasing seven studio albums and one live LP. An 8th studio album was recorded on guitarist Dave Giffen's label, Howler Records.
The band's style and lyrics are eclectic. Their music is a mixture of hard rock, punk, grunge and post-punk, and typically features melodic, guitar-heavy, odd-metered, and deeply-grooved pieces. It's often punctuated with brass instrumentation; many of the members are traditionally- or classically-trained musicians (though rarely on the same instruments they play in the band).
Alice Donut is " twisted freak show of punk, rock and pop sticking pins into the warped underbelly of humanity."

Their minds are not just sick, they're on the critical list.
- Melody Maker
[Alice Donut is] the missing link between REM and Butthole Surfers.
- Jello Biafra [Ex-Kennedy]
Great guitars...crazy lead vocalist. There's nothing like that guy!
